Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Trung receives Ms. Juliet Rugeiyamu Kairuki, Executive Director of Tanzania Investment Centre

(MPI Portal) – On October 27th 2014, at the headquarters of Ministry of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Trung had a meeting with Ms. Juliet Rugeiyamu Kairuki, Executive Director of Tanzania Investment Centre.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Juliet Rugeiyamu Kairuki said that Tanzania desired to strengthen investment cooperation between the two countries in the coming time. Currently, there are two investment projects of Vietnam into Tanzania, including project of processing factory and project of telecommunication of Viettel Group. Appreciating the effective working of Vietnamese investors, Ms. Juliet hoped that many Vietnamese enterprises would be interested in investment in Tanzania. Besides, Tanzania desired to learn how to build law, institution and policy to attract investment in general and agriculture in particular.

Ms. Juliet said that Tanzania is an agricultural country, which planned 20 thousand hectare of agricultural land in order to attract foreign investors, especially Vietnamese investors with experiences in agriculture, fishery, rice cultivation, catching seafood… would be interested in agricultural sector of Tanzania.

Sharing experience of investment attraction of Vietnam, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Trung said that 25 years of investment attraction of Vietnam has been divided into 2 periods, by now FDI attraction policy of Vietnam encourages projects using less energy, resources; focusing on high technology, less carbon emission, environment-friendly project; developing high human resource, skilled labor. Thereby, the Deputy Minister also suggested the ability to consider signing of an investment protection agreement between the two countries in order to strengthen investment cooperation./.
