New academic contributions of the thesis
- The thesis has clarified the concepts, implications related to tourism development in accordance with the economic corridor which is developing organized tourism on the coordination between tourism providers. It is the coordination between tour operators, hotel and restaurant owners, cultural and art suppliers, spiritual activists, athletes, conferences, associations, trade centers, traditional craft villages... and urban tourism centers on the economic corridor that is the determining factor to satisfy tourists' demand of high quality of tourism products.
- The thesis has revealed three factors affecting the development of tourism on the economic corridor: economic benefits (or profit); Tourism development policy and political will of the authorities; Travel business enterprises; and some other important factors (geographical locations, tourism resources, market demands, technical infrastructure for tourism development....)
- The thesis has pointed out 7 indicators of tourism development according to EC, divided into 2 groups:
(1) Group 1: Criteria for evaluating the results and effectiveness of tourism development on economic corridors (including 5 indicators: the increased rate of tourists due to tourism development on the economic corridor, the increased rate of tourism revenue due to tourism development on the economic corridor, the increased rate of productivity due to tourism development on the economic corridor, the contribution rate of tourism industry to the GRDP of four localities along the economic corridor; average expenditure per one tourist.
(2) Group 2: Indicators reflecting the causes and effects of tourism development on the economic corridor (including 2 indicators: ratio of investment capital into tourism in total social investment capital; the share of tourism added value in total tourism revenue).
New findings and proposals drawn from the research and surveys' results:
- The thesis has clarified both strong and weak points, and the reasons of shortcomings and weaknesses in the development of tourism on the economic corridor of Lang Son-Hanoi as well. It has pointed out that tourism development has not been organized on a large scale as well as each locality itself and in the development of tourism on the EC Lang Son-Hanoi route.
- The thesis has proposed 7 solutions to the tourism development on the economic corridor Lang Son-Hanoi to 2025 (investing into tourism development, cooperating and setting up tourism linkage in the four localities, upgrading tourism development infrastructure, developing high-quality human resources, strengthening the mechanism and policies for tourism development along the EC line, building the project categories prior to the development of tourism in efficient and sustainable ways.
