1. New theoretical contributions
The dissertation sheds light on basic theory related to supporting industry development at city (province) level, especially the concepts, content and criteria for evaluating supporting industry development in Hanoi city. The criteria forcus on three aspects of supporting industry development, including: development scale, development quality, and efficiency of supporting industry development in the city.
2. New findings and proposals
By using appropriate research methods, this dissertation has academically and theoretically contributed to the discussed topic as following:
+ Describe a comprehensive picture of supporting industry development in Hanoi city over the past years.
+ Analysize the factors affecting the development of supporting industries, including policy implementation, global network linkage, market, human resources, and infrastructure. Moreover, the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method was used to measure impacts of the factors on the industry development in order to formulate a practical foundation, based on which solutions for the industrial development of Hanoi city in a new context has been proposed.
+ Propose ideologies, orientations and solutions which aim at speeding up development of supporting industries in Hanoi city up to 2030.
3. Conclusions
Currently, the development of supporting industry is one of the Vietnam government's priorities, which are condisered as solutions for developing domestic industries and avoiding trade deficit. There are a number of studies on supporting industry development, but previous studies focused only on supporting industry development of specific sector. Therefore, this dissertation findings could be widely applied in reality as a reference for researchers, policy makers and government officials who are working on tasks associated with supporting industry development in Hanoi city as well as other localities in Vietnam.
The dissertation analyzed development of supporting industries at city (province) level. Further research can possibly focus on human resource development for supporting industries, development of industrial zones for supporting industries, development of supporting industries at regional or national level or development of hi-tech supporting industries.
